Dr. Brian Vial, the latest addition to Advanced Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine, is a fellowship-trained hand, wrist, and upper extremity surgeon specializing in operative and non-operative treatment of fractures from the hand to the shoulder, nerve entrapment such as carpal tunnel and cubital tunnel syndrome, trigger fingers, peripheral nerve injuries, tendon injuries, rotator cuff tears, and arthritis of the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder. He also holds an interest in targeted muscle reinnervation (TMR), a surgery that can alleviate post-operative nerve pain for amputees. Dr. Vial enjoys the complexity of upper extremity surgery and utilizes a multimodal, evidence-based approach to treatment. He believes that the best outcomes occur when the patient shares in the decision-making process; therefore, he prioritizes ensuring his patients understand their diagnosis and treatment options.
Originally from Katy, Texas, Dr. Brian Vial spent his childhood in the Cinco Ranch area. He graduated with his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 2010. He then moved to the Texas Medical Center in Houston to attend medical school at Baylor College of Medicine where he graduated in 2014. He went on to complete his orthopedic surgery residency at Baylor College of Medicine in 2019. He received the prestigious Bronze Hammer Award, given yearly to one fourth-year resident and voted on by faculty and peers in residency. This award provided the opportunity for him to complete an AO Trauma Fellowship in Barcelona, Spain, during his chief year. During his fourth year of residency, his chairman and program director selected him to represent the program at the AOA Resident Leadership Forum. Dr. Brian Vial then went on to complete his fellowship training at the Medical College of Wisconsin in 2020. This was a unique experience as he trained with both plastic and orthopedic surgeons, affording him a wide breadth of operative skills for the hand and upper extremity. He is excited to move back to the Houston area and join our team here at AOSM in August 2020.
In addition to his medical interests, he enjoys spending time with his wife, new daughter, and labradoodle Barley. His personal interests include sports, trivia, traveling, world history, and movies.

What Our Patients Are Saying
When I started, I couldn’t put any weight on my right leg and now I can do virtually anything. While I hope to not need future therapy, this is without a doubt the place I will return to in the future.

I just recovered from my 2nd back surgery by Dr. Mohr. I love the people there so much I just went back and saw a shoulder surgeon Dr. Fehsenfeld for cortisone shots.

Dr. Ryan Blalock is AMAZING! He went above and beyond to fix my 8 year old son’s severely broken arm with emergency surgery.

I highly recommend Advanced Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine to anyone who needs anything dealing with bone replacement.

Dr. Patel has been great at my pain relief. She doesn’t force me to take any meds I don’t want, or injections. She will give me the injection I want when I need it. Great friendly Doctor.

Dr. Cubbage & Staff replaced a disc that had been destroyed between my 4th and 5th vertebra. This is my 4th month since the surgery in January of 2018. I was very impressed with their dedication

I have to give everyone 5 stars from the front office and staff to Dr. Blalock and Dr. Patel all were great with very professional service.

Dr. David R. Mack replaced my right hip in June 2009, and my left in October 2010. I am already able to go places and do things on my own again.

Each procedure done by Dr. Patel has been an improvement. Very pleased.

Great experience with Dr. Tanous and staff. Telling our entire family and friends about my husband Mel ‘s injury and the kind and expert care we received . Our thanks and appreciation .
