Dr. Brian Vial, the latest addition to Advanced Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine, is a fellowship-trained hand, wrist, and upper extremity surgeon specializing in operative and non-operative treatment of fractures from the hand to the shoulder, nerve entrapment such as carpal tunnel and cubital tunnel syndrome, trigger fingers, peripheral nerve injuries, tendon injuries, rotator cuff tears, and arthritis of the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder. He also holds an interest in targeted muscle reinnervation (TMR), a surgery that can alleviate post-operative nerve pain for amputees. Dr. Vial enjoys the complexity of upper extremity surgery and utilizes a multimodal, evidence-based approach to treatment. He believes that the best outcomes occur when the patient shares in the decision-making process; therefore, he prioritizes ensuring his patients understand their diagnosis and treatment options.
Originally from Katy, Texas, Dr. Brian Vial spent his childhood in the Cinco Ranch area. He graduated with his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 2010. He then moved to the Texas Medical Center in Houston to attend medical school at Baylor College of Medicine where he graduated in 2014. He went on to complete his orthopedic surgery residency at Baylor College of Medicine in 2019. He received the prestigious Bronze Hammer Award, given yearly to one fourth-year resident and voted on by faculty and peers in residency. This award provided the opportunity for him to complete an AO Trauma Fellowship in Barcelona, Spain, during his chief year. During his fourth year of residency, his chairman and program director selected him to represent the program at the AOA Resident Leadership Forum. Dr. Brian Vial then went on to complete his fellowship training at the Medical College of Wisconsin in 2020. This was a unique experience as he trained with both plastic and orthopedic surgeons, affording him a wide breadth of operative skills for the hand and upper extremity. He is excited to move back to the Houston area and join our team here at AOSM in August 2020.
In addition to his medical interests, he enjoys spending time with his wife, new daughter, and labradoodle Barley. His personal interests include sports, trivia, traveling, world history, and movies.

What Our Patients Are Saying
Dr. Brooks is an amazing doctor who shows genuine concern for the welfare of his patients. He is professional, courteous, friendly, and knowledgeable. He is responsive to patients who are in need of help when they request an office visit. I would highly recommend him to my family and friends.
Dr. Patel is the most fantastic doctor my mother has seen in years. She has helped us in ways that we never expected. You have no idea what it is like to have your 87-year-old mother go from lots of pain to very little. I don’t know what we would’ve done without her.
Dr. Mohr saved my life. I was told I would never walk again and he took my case. He is the best surgeon in the world. Visits are great, he explains everything to where I understand everything. He’s the best.
Dr. Fehsenfeld is one of the best. He talks to me on a regular level, & he performed ACL surgery on my oldest son. My boy recovered back to 100% within no time. I went to see about my shoulder, & I was in/out within an hour. That includes X-ray, diagnosis, talking, and the remedy. Dr. Drew is the most…
We brought our son to see Dr. Tessier for a medial epicondyle stress fracture on his throwing elbow. Dr. Tessier explained in detail the extent of the injury and thoroughly answered all of our questions. He developed a treatment plan to help him move towards recovery so that he can be back on the field next year. We have seen…
Dr. Vial is the best doctor I have seen in a long time. It was so easy to make an appointment with him and he took me back on time. They did the necessary x-ray right there in the office. Dr. Vial was so kind, caring, and friendly. He quickly diagnosed me and put me at ease about my injury!…
We absolutely LOVE Dr. Mihu. She truly puts her heart and soul into her patients. My husband is a complicated patient, and she has never given up on him. We cherish our relationship with her because it is rare to find a physician like her with the knowledge, experience and heart she invests in her patients. She really goes above…
Dr. Mack and all the staff are professional and courteous. Dr. Mack came highly recommended, and I was very satisfied with his diagnosis and subsequent treatment. I would recommend him without reservation.
We did not have an appointment, but I was concerned my son had broken his hand. I called and was given an appointment within an hour. Dr. Vial was great, the person who did his cast was wonderful, and we were in and out within an hour. Fantastic staff and excellent customer service!
I have been going to Dr. Fehsenfeld for almost 10 years now and he has been nothing but amazing. He always gives his patients the time they need and sits down and talks with them about their injury and different recovery options. He has done both of my knee surgeries and I have had no issues with them and quick…
