Dr. Drew Fehsenfeld is a fellowship trained sports medicine Orthopedic physician who specializes in the arthroscopic management of shoulder, elbow, knee, and hip problems. He believes in an evidence-based and multidisciplinary approach to each patient.

He routinely treats shoulder instability, rotator cuff tears, AC joint injury, and shoulder arthritis. In the knee, he has extensive experience in common procedures such as ACL reconstruction and meniscal repair, as well as more complex techniques such as meniscal transplant, cartilage replacement, and ligamentous knee reconstruction. He performs hip arthroscopy and has a special interest in the management of the injured athlete from the weekend warrior to the elite player.

He began his education at Texas Christian University where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 1990. He then attended graduate school obtaining a doctorate in molecular and cellular biology. He received his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. Subsequently, his Orthopedic residency training was completed at the University of Washington in Seattle, which is consistently ranked in the top 15 nationally by US News and World Report. At Harborview Medical Center, he received premier training in fracture management. He developed a particular interest in shoulder reconstruction while training with the internationally known Dr. Frederick Matsen. Dr. Fehsenfeld spent an additional year of advanced fellowship training in sports medicine at the University of Connecticut where he developed experience with cutting edge techniques in cartilage preservation, ligamentous knee reconstruction, patellofemoral disorders, and shoulder instability/arthritis. He served as a member of the Orthopedic physician team for the National Champion University of Connecticut Huskies, managing the care of elite collegiate athletes.

He has lectured to local organizations on the prevention of sports injuries and the management of the arthritic shoulder. He has written chapters on the treatment of the ACL injuries, unstable shoulder, and acromioclavicular joint. He is a candidate member of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, the American Academy of Orthopedic surgery, and American Orthopedic Society of Sports Medicine. He serves as head team physician for Cy-ranch High School.

Dr. Fehsenfeld practices and performs surgery at the North Cypress Medical Center, St. Luke’s Vintage Park, and Methodist Willowbrook Hospital.

Matt graduated with his bachelors of science from Brigham Young University in Exercise Science with emphasis in sports kinesiology and biomechanics. Matt then went on to receive his Masters degree, graduating as a Physician Assistant from the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut. He then trained medical rotations at Yale and Bridgeport hospital.
