Physical and Occupational Therapy
Physical therapy and occupational therapy are integral specialties of the team at Advanced Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine of Houston. With a commitment to helping each patient achieve the greatest possible level of independence, our experienced therapists offer the latest techniques for reducing pain, enhancing strength, increasing range of motion and improving mobility.
Based on the unique needs and goals of each individual, our physical and occupational therapists develop customized fitness- and wellness-oriented programs. Our goal is to help each patient find the most conservative treatment approach that will be effective over the long term, and this often involves physical therapy and occupational therapy. Since 2007, our services have consistently exceeded the expectations of 90 percent of our patients, and our practice is trusted and respected by both our patients and peers throughout the Houston, Texas, area.
What can be achieved with physical therapy and occupational therapy?
Often prescribed by physicians as a first-line treatment, physical therapy services help many individuals become stronger and more flexible, which in turn can allow them to regain function after sustaining an injury or developing a medical condition. More specifically, physical and occupational therapy can help a patient:
- Find effective relief from pain (including back pain that occurs during pregnancy)
- Return to work and resume other daily activities
- Prepare for the physical responsibilities of a new job
- Prevent further injuries
- Manage the effects of aging, including arthritis and bone density loss
- Improve balance and coordination
- Reduce the risk of falling
- Postpone or eliminate the need for surgery
In addition to physical therapy and occupational therapy – including services performed by a certified hand therapist – we provide our patients with access to a wide range of other orthopedic treatments, both surgical and nonsurgical. At our state-of-the-art facility in Houston, TX, we offer both adult and pediatric orthopedic services, and we welcome patients age six and older.

What Our Patients Are Saying
Dr. Mack and all the staff are professional and courteous. Dr. Mack came highly recommended, and I was very satisfied with his diagnosis and subsequent treatment. I would recommend him without reservation.
I’ve seen Dr. Brooks twice now for both of my shoulders and he has given me injections both times. I’m extremely impressed by his injection skills and I always get relief from them. I highly recommend Dr. Brooks, and his MA is very sweet and caring. They also have X-ray and ultrasound on site, which makes things easier.
Dr. Mack and his staff has been a blessing to me and my family. His patience and listening ear has greatly enhanced my quality of care and confidence in his abilities as a surgeon. My 84 year old mom fell and broke her right hip. Dr. Tanous was referred to me by her primary doctor. The appointment staff of AOSM gave me a next day appointment, with website info that enabled me to fill out much of necessary paperwork. The office staff was prompt and we saw Dr. Tanous at the given appointment time….
Dr. Mohr is absolutely what I’ve needed to finally fix my spinal condition. I had a wonderful experience throughout my surgery and post-op. My husband had 2 discs replaced in his neck by Dr. Cubbage. The overall experience was exceptional. Dr. Cubbage was highly professional with a great bedside manner and a gentleness that sets him apart. He answered all of our questions and explained the diagnosis as well as the procedure in a through and understandable way.
Dr. Patel is the most fantastic doctor my mother has seen in years. She has helped us in ways that we never expected. You have no idea what it is like to have your 87-year-old mother go from lots of pain to very little. I don’t know what we would’ve done without her.
Dr. Patel was amazing. When I first went to her office I couldn’t even sit down because my back was hurting so bad. After my injections and physical therapy, I feel much better! I was starting to think I will never be back to normal and go back to my career as a welder, but you can and I did…
We absolutely LOVE Dr. Mihu. She truly puts her heart and soul into her patients. My husband is a complicated patient, and she has never given up on him.
