Physical Therapy at Advanced Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine of Houston, TX

Physical therapy is one of the most integral specialties at Advanced Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine of Houston, Texas. Treating a variety of conditions that affect the muscles, bones, joints, tendons and ligaments, our physical therapists practice today’s latest techniques for providing non-operative pain relief and post-operative rehabilitation.

On average, our physical therapists have more than a decade of experience in the industry, giving them the expertise necessary to provide skilled, individualized care. Physical therapy can be provided with a number of goals in mind. For instance, a program can be specifically designed to:

  • Alleviate pain and/or swelling
  • Prevent or postpone the need for surgical treatment
  • Improve a patient’s range of motion or flexibility
  • Acclimate a patient to new activity limitations following a knee or hip replacement
  • Gradually restore a patient’s strength and/or day-to-day function after orthopedic surgery
  • Condition patients to return to work or meet new physical demands of a job
  • Counteract the effects of osteoporosis and reduce the likelihood of falls
  • Reduce back pain during pregnancy

We believe in providing patients with access to a wide range of orthopedic treatments, both surgical and nonsurgical, while encouraging patients to explore conservative treatments before moving forward with surgery. Our physical therapy department works hand-in-hand with our other departments, providing each patient with the comprehensive, multispecialty care that they need to achieve meaningful, long-term relief. This integrated approach allows us to achieve more favorable outcomes, promote better patient participation rates and ensure more seamless communication between a patient’s physical therapist and physician. This also helps us reduce the wait times that patients might otherwise experience when starting physical therapy; we can schedule patients for their first session within three days of the treatment being authorized by insurance.

At Advanced Orthopaedics, we tailor our treatment plans to each patient’s specific needs, in turn allowing us to help each of our patients achieve their unique goals, whether that’s returning to their favorite athletic endeavors, reducing their need for pain medication or helping them get back to work after an injury. Ongoing patient surveys (from 2007) have shown that our physical therapy services have consistently exceeded expectations for 90 percent of patients, and we’re committed to continuously increasing this number through the integration of today’s latest and most effective techniques.
